Usability optimization is not a one-off event:
a subscription model for usability testing.

Smaller, but regular usability tests guarantee constant improvement in the usability of your app or website. It is often the case that software products only get a comprehensive usability test when serious problems are already looming on the horizon. Costly user testing with an even more expensive redesign can, however, be avoided with regular test cycles and smaller test units.

For this purpose, we have put together a usability level agreement in four different sizes for our customers. Each ULA combines different test methods and intervals and can be used for B2C and B2B projects. Depending on the size of the subscription, the following UX services are included:

ULA Qualitative test methods

After a short on-boarding where we identify your concerns, a UX expert examines the project and tests your application against UX best practices and standards for:
recognizability, distinctness, legibility, comprehensibility, clarity, conciseness, and consistency. The report contains concrete recommendations for action with source information and lists any phenomena that were uncovered that should be examined in more detail using additional methods in the user dialog.

Your personal UX coach is available to you for a regularly scheduled consultation. Thanks to heat maps and screen recordings, the UX coach is always in the picture when it comes to the usability performance of your web application and can show you trends and phenomena during the meeting. The subsequent reports include screenshots and screen recordings with special phenomena or identified improvements that have been successfully remedied.

Qualitative live user testing in the laboratory with five test subjects, spread over a day. Each test unit lasts 45 minutes. During this time, the moderator assigns various test tasks to the test subjects as the observer takes notes on their behavior and comments. This includes administrative tasks such as: test subject recruiting, drafting NDAs, creating test scenarios, interview questions, and test scripts, as well as final reports with recommendations for action.

This method ensures a permanent flow of new findings. Similar to laboratory testing, the test subjects are assigned different test tasks. So they are solved online with this method. During a test session, each screen interaction is recorded in a screencast and the test subject makes comments as they perform the task. This results in unfiltered feedback showing their frustration or enthusiasm. You will receive 10 recorded test videos per month, documented with our analysis and recommendations for action.

ULA Quantitative test methods

A code-snipped, GDPR-compliant recording of anonymized interactions and movement patterns of your current users. The click interactions are visualized as heat maps and show the most frequently selected elements. Additional screen recordings show the click sequences and user journeys. This creates a data set that we can manually evaluate on a monthly basis. The key findings and recommendations for action are recorded in monthly reports.

As part of online testing, you can assign the test subjects up to 8 test tasks. Depending on what you want to find out about your product, we can set up A/B testing, a card sorting evaluation, or a first-click task for you. You will receive feedback from 100 test subjects per test interval. The reports include a detailed summary and analysis of the phenomena, as well as a list with any recommendations for action.
