UX architecture for a
big data platform

The customer and the challenge

Signifikant Solutions AG is involved in carrying out big data analyses for the advertising industry. Its self-developed analysis software provides valuable information, on a scientific basis, on the advertising effect of the individual advertising channels within a campaign.

The large number of advertising channels and the possibility of evaluating them in a very granular manner mean that the demands are very high for an easily understandable representation of the data to be analysed. However, the acceptance and success of the product are based on a good user experience and a clearly structured user interface.

Approach and solution

As a working basis, and so as to be able to visualise the product vision, we worked with individual, detached PowerPoint wireframes. This information was used to take a step back and to question the presentation of the data as well as the basic dashboard concept in terms of usability.

In addition to clearly understandable UI components, it was most notably the implementation of well-thought-out colour coding for the individual areas and data records that proved to be crucial for an intelligible user experience.

Prototyping and MVP

Existing analysis software was used in the backend to set up the initial MVP. However, so that the dynamically generated data could be “experienced” in the MVP and tested with the user group, the design was implemented as a prototype directly in HTML and connected to the existing backend component.

Added value for Signifikant Solutions

  • Fully functional MVP for pilot customer acquisition and investor search
  • Valuable insights for the construction of the final product
  • Prototype as the basis for further development
